Everybody needs that friend. You know, the one who takes you out for (strong) cocktails on the heels of a breakup and refuses to let you sit on the couch and mope. And who could use one of those pals more than Jennifer Aniston? She's had more than her share of disappointments - let's see, there was Josh Hopkins, and John Mayer, and Gerard Butler, and of course, the biggie: Brad Pitt. Need we go on?

Of course, it's not that Jen really needs new friends, per se. After all, her BFF status with Courtney Cox has been well-documented and she's got a full circle of trusted companions. In fact, Jen even rented two private planes over Thanksgiving to fly them all down to Cabo San Lucas in a Golden Girls-esque "Thank You For Being a Friend" move.

"Jen has more money than she will ever be able to spend in her lifetime, so she decided Thanksgiving was the perfect time to splurge on the most important people in her life," a source told Popeater.

One of the plane's passengers? No-holds-barred jokester Chelsea Handler, Jen's newest sidekick. And, according to Popeater, Chelsea thinks it's time for Jen to shake things up a bit and change her single status quo! Jennifer Aniston World's Most Eligible Single Gal?

"Many of Jen's closest friends were with her when Brad broke her heart and have discouraged her from spreading her wings too quickly for fear she will get hurt again," reports Popeater's source. No more quiet dinners out with Courteney Cox and the girls."

And who better than bawdy Chelsea for Jen to hit up the town with? It's no secret that Chelsea's a huge fan of no-strings-attached flings, vodka, and just plain ol' having a good time. And if she can get Jen to date a member of 50 Cent's entourage, we'll really be impressed!

Jennifer Aniston is one of Hollywood's most squeaky clean stars. But the 41-year-old appeared to clearly flout the law as she was seen at the wheel of her car with mobile phone in hand.

And in another frame the actress appeared to be chatting on the phone using the speaker facility while driving in Los Angeles.

Aniston's actions came a few months after Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger's wife Maria Shriver was caught red-handed driving while on her mobile.

Los Angeles has enforced a state-wide ban on using mobile phones while driving since July 2008.

It carries a fine of $20 on the first conviction and $50 on the second, not including penalties.

Clearly an important call that just couldn't wait. But any fine will be pocket change to a star of Aniston's calibre, but embarrassing nonetheless.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that the actress's former husband, Brad Pitt and his partner Angelina Jolie will not be attending the Golden Globe Awards.

According to reports, the reason they are avoiding the awards is because Pitt, 46, has not been nominated for his role in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds.

'They're not going because he's not nominated individually, Inglourious Basterds is, but not him,' Jolie's stylist, Jen Rade told E! News.

But other sources claim the two do not want to risk running into Pitt's ex-wife, actress who is expected to attend the 67th annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on January 17.

Pitt's manager has confirmed the actor will not be there.

Today it was announced Brad and Angelina's charitable foundation is contributing $1 million to the emergency medical operation responding to the devastating 7.0-magnitude quake in Haiti.

Pitt said in a statement: 'We understand the first response is critical to serve the immediate needs of countless people who are now displaced from their homes, are suffering trauma, and most require urgent care.'

John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston have reportedly called it quits.

That's the rumor I'm hearing. A source says the pair's on-again, off-again relationship may have ended sometime within the last week, when Aniston returned from her overseas Marley & Me junket.

John made a tasty piece of arm candy for the award season -– especially facing Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on Oscar night. And he was a great date for Jen on red carpets for both her films -– "Marley & Me” and “He’s Just Not That Into You.”

After Jennifer returned from eating dog biscuits with Owen Wilson to promote “Marley” in Europe, Hollywood's hottest couple were inexplicably kaput, according to People. Just like that? Wow.

"They had some disagreements and decided to not continue to see each other," says a People source. "Jen is moving on with her life like she always does. She seems happy."

A second source says it was Mayer who broke up with Aniston after she returned from Europe.

In a recent interview with British paper Mail on Sunday, Aniston said she didn't believe any relationship meant to last a lifetime. "Whoever said that every relationship has to last forever? That's hoping for too much."

"He broke up with her when she got back from her European tour," the source said.

Aniston's rep did not immediately comment. Mayer's rep declined to comment on the singer's personal life.

But what are their friends saying?

One pal warns that we shouldn't be quick to assume the two are through for good. As we know, this wouldn't be the first time they've gone their separate ways.

Aniston recently opened up about love and romance to the U.K. magazine You. "Who ever said that every relationship has to last forever? That's hoping too much," said Aniston, who turned 40 exactly a month ago. "I think every relationship is a world unto itself."

As for finding the perfect partner, she said, "I don't have one and I don't think it exists."

Aniston and Mayer went public for the first time at the Oscars at the end of last month. Backstage at the Kodak Theatre, Aniston told Gayle King, who was interviewing them for her pal Oprah's show, that she was "very happy." Later in the night, they strolled arm in arm into the Vanity Fair postshow party at the Sunset Tower Hotel.

Most recently, Aniston was spotted on Monday at the same hotel grabbing a bite to eat at the Terrace restaurant. She'll be jetting to New York City in the spring to shoot The Baster, in which she stars opposite Jason Bateman as an unmarried 40-year-old who decides to have a baby with her best friend.

But an awards season and a couple of red carpets, that's like totally doable.Mayer, meanwhile, has been in the studio working on a new album.
