Sonam Kapoor 'stops wearing Galliano'

Sonam Kapoor has announced that she will not wear clothes by controversial former Christian Dior designer John Galliano.

The actress, who played a fashionista in last year's Aisha, is upset by the designer's alleged anti-Semitic statements in Paris earlier this week.

A source told Mid Day: "She is extremely fashion conscious and loves wearing the brand's outfits, especially those designed by Galliano. For Aisha, a majority of Sonam's outfits and accessories came from the designer label.

"She even possesses a few outfits from the fashion house. But she could never condone anti-Semitic statements, no matter how much she loves the designer."

The Bollywood star joins figures such as Natalie Portman in condemning Galliano's widely-publicised comments.

Sonam Kapoor in I Hate Luv Storys

Sonam Kapoor born on 9th June 1985 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She is an Indian film actress who appears in Bollywood movies. She is the daughter of Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor.

Her latest Bollywood Hindi film release is I Hate Luv Storys where she is performin as Simran Sharma. Her co-actors in this film are Imran Khan as Jay Dhingra, Sameer Dattani as Raj, Samir Soni as Veer Kapoor, Aamir Ali as Rajeev Kumar, Bruna Abdalah, Khusboo Shroff, Ketki Dave, Anju Mahendru and Pooja Ghai.

Sonam Kapoor is dating her I Hate Luv Storys director Punit Malhotra. And all's not well. This relationship is causing stress for both involved because mixing business and pleasure is not as easy or fun as it sounds.

The first-time director is finding it difficult to concentrate on his film, given the distraction of his ladylove around, and the lectures by his uncle Manish Malhotra and producer Karan Johar to "concentrate only on his work" aren't helping.

Meanwhile, like any 20-plus girl in the throes of love, Sonam is finding it difficult to relate to her boyfriend, who also happens to be the boss on the set. The arguments and fights keep happening between the young lovers, who hit it off instantly as they were both single and compatible as they discovered at the very first meeting.

The crew of the film is aware of the closeness between Sonam and Punit. A khabru from the sets reveals, "The relationship is rather new, and at this early stage, tiffs are normal. In fact, Imran keeps teasing her about it all the time."

The two bonded and became serious during their New Zealand schedule. The source continues, "Punit was constantly taking Sonam's photos and telling her how gorgeous she looked. Whenever they weren't shooting, the two would go out and try new places for dinner. In fact, Sonam even told her sister Rhea about Punit."

Punit who's a protege of Dharma Productions has assisted Karan on several films in the past. It is learnt that Karan is well aware of their budding romance, and has even reprimanded Punit on a few occasions. Sonam is very moody and her state of mind has been apparent in her recent Twitter messages. She even cancelled going to an award function because of her fight with Punit."

Manish Malhotra's nephew- Punit Malhotra is Sonam Kapoor's latest squeeze. Though the dainty lass is paired opposite Imran Khan in Dharma Productions' 'I Hate Luv Storys' but she developed a liking her director on the sets of the film.

The two became serious during the New Zealand schedule. They used to go out for dinner together and enjoyed each other's company.

According to a source, "Punit was constantly taking Sonam's photos and telling her how gorgeous she looked. Whenever they weren't shooting, the two would go out and try new places for dinner. In fact, Sonam even told her sister Rhea about Punit."

However their public display of affection didn't go down well with Mama Manish Malhotra and producer Karan Johar who told Punit to "concentrate only on his work".

The crew of the film is also aware of the closeness between Sonam and Punit. A source adds, "The relationship is rather new, and at this early stage, tiffs are normal. In fact, Imran keeps teasing her about it all the time."

Punit has earlier worked assistant director in Paheli (2005), starring Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji; and Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), starring Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta. Not surprisingly, Manish Malhotra will design the costumes for the film.

I Hate Love Stories is said to be a film about a film director, Sammir and his assistant director and production designer played by Imran and Sonam.

Sonam Kapoor was born on June 9, 1985 in Chembur, Mumbai, India. She is the daughter of Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor. She is an Indian film actress who will make her Bollywood debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Hindi movie Saawariya as Sakina opposite Ranbir Kappor who is son of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. The film also stars Salman Khan and Rani Mukerjee in supporting roles.

She also assisted director Sanjay Leela Bhansali in the making of movie Black in 2005 where Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee played the lead role.
