Mao Inoue

It is now confirmed that Shun Oguri (27) and Mao Inoue (23) will co-star in a new drama series this fall. The pair, who appeared together in the live-action "Hana Yori Dango," have been cast in an adaptation of "Juui Dolittle" ("Veterinarian Dolittle"), a manga written by Midori Natsu and illustrated by Makiyoshi Chikuya.

Oguri plays the part of Kenichi Tottori, a highly capable veterinarian known by the nickname "Dolittle." He has a sharp tongue, and he maintains a strict attitude about issues such as money and proper pet care. But in addition to saving animals, he also helps fix the problems of their owners.

Inoue plays the female lead as Kenichi's co-worker Asuka Tajima, while Hiroki Narimiya (27) as rival veterinarian Masaru Hanabishi. The show will also focus on the love triangle between the three characters.

The show will air on TBS in the Sunday 9:00pm time slot, starting in October.

Oguri Shun and Yamada Yuu pre marriage in Hawaii

Oguri Shun

Actor Oguri Shun and model Yamada Yuu, who have been in a relationship for quite a while now have left for a pre-marriage journey to Hawaii during the night of January 4th. 15 Minutes before their scheduled flight at 9.45 in the evening, Yamada had been seen passing through the boarding gates. Hiding behind dark sun glasses it was the gleaming ring shining on her left ring finger. When being asked, what their plans had been for Hawaii, either of the two hardly answered and just commented laughing "We'd just like to enjoy our time there."

Five minutes later, Oguri had also been spotted. During interviews he usually only looked down and said "We just want to relax a little. After all it is a journey with our family". Hence, Oguri's family could also be seen around the two at that time.

As for the questions, if they were to marry this year Oguri said "That's not our plan." Despite the clear negation, the two of them wear the golden necklaces, representing the bond between them. According to friends and people around them, however, both of them would like to marry quickly, therefore a sudden arrangement might be possible.

Japan Actor Oguri Shun as Oishi Kuranosuke

oguri shun

December 14th is known in Japan as the day the 'Genroku Ako Incident (元禄赤穂事件)' occurred during the Edo period in 1703. Oishi Kuranosuke was a samurai who served under Asano Takumi-no-Kami, the daimyo of Ako domain. Asano's rival lord, Kira Kozuke-no-suke, tricked Asano and had him executed; the execution of Asano resulted in the abolishment of Ako domain. A year later (in 1703), Oishi along with 47 other former samurai of the Ako domain exacted revenge by attacking and killing Asano. The incident became the basis of a story titled 'Chushingura (忠臣蔵)', which has been performed many times in joruri (浄瑠璃; dramatic narrative accompanied with music), kabuki (歌舞伎; traditional Japanese theater), films and dramas. The main character, the chivalrous and loyal samurai Oishi Kuranosuke, is portrayed as a man with sound judgment and adept at analyzing various situations. Who is most suited to act as Oishi?

A recent survey conducted by Oricon asked people which actor they thought was best suited to perform as the passionate Oishi. Oguri Shun, arguably the most popular of all actors in their 20s, received the most votes.

Beside his successful career as an actor, recently it was announced that he will become the youngest actor to direct a film. That has led fans to speculate that he can effectively lead other people as well. "Since he's going to direct a movie, he must have good leadership qualities too."

No.2 was Karasawa Toshiaki, and Kimura Takuya came in at No.3. Actors who played leaders in dramas tended to rank high.

Oguri Shun’s soaking wet for waterproof cellphone ad

oguri shun

Actor Oguri Shun (26) attended the CM presentation for Sony Ericsson’s ‘Bravia Phone U1′ waterproof mobile phone on the 11th.

During the product presentation at the assembly hall, Oguri, who was wearing a suit, was doused in a large amount of water. The CM needed 13 takes during filming. At every take, a huge amount of water was splashed on him. “There were about 5 or 6 pairs of suits that I wore. By the time I changed, the last suit would have dried already. It’s the first time I’ve had to change my briefs so many times in a day. I was prepared with 10 pairs,” he looked back with a smile.

The CM airs from the 12th onwards.

Oguri’s cast is slowly getting leaked

oguri shun

The big names that are going to appear in Oguri Shun’s (26) directorial debut "Someday" are getting leaked left and right. The movie itself is supposed to open next spring and it already got leaked that Koide Keisuke (25) is going to get the starring role while Inoue Mao (22) and Ueto Aya (24) have also been mentioned to be part of the cast among many other big stars.

Oguri didn’t have much problems with finding his starring actor. He asked Koide and he immediately gave his agreement. Of course it won’t be a movie just with Koide. Inoue Mao and Abe Tsuyoshi (27) are going to co-star in this movie as well. Oguri’s junior Tanaka Kei (25) will have a role too, as well as his stage mate Katsudzi Ryo (23), Muro Tsuyoshi (33), Yoshida Koutarou (50) and a couple more.

Other interesting additions are the young rising actor Miura Haruma (19), the always amazing actress Konishi Manami (30) and not to forget Tenchijin’s big star and popular commercial actor Tsumabuki Satoshi (28). The latter is actually a very close friend of Oguri and so it was no surprise for him wanting to support is friend’s directorial debut. Movie insiders also claim that it’s his intention to have a suitable role for the always popular Ueto Aya who already starred in many movies and doramas up to now.

There is also some supposed leaked footage related to the content of his movie. It seems like that the story is basically going to be about a sculptured group of 5 male childhood friend. They raised some trouble and one of them got arrested. Now that he’s being discharged from prison, the 5 of them get together again for another plot, after which they are going to separate again. It’s a story about personal growth, friendship and unity. The highlight is said to be a quarrel scene between all the guys.

Such kind of story is no surprise when you look at who provided Oguri with the script. No other than Crows Zero writer Mutou Shougo is helping him to create yet another nice world that’s primarily focused on men. It’s a dream come true for Oguri to direct his first movie, however, in a radio interview he also said that "I’m almost getting crushed by all this pressure. I always had moments where I thought to myself, Why on earth did you wan to do something like that?". He is going to be the youngest actor to make a debut as director in history. Everyone is wondering what the final movie is going to look like…

And remember, there haven’t been any official announcements regarding the cast as of yet.
